DHC+ Technology Platform publishes a Digital Roadmap for District Heating & Cooling with Tilia contribution

Tilia May 15, 2018 No Comments

At Tilia, we strongly believe that District Heating and Cooling (DHC) Systems are a key asset for the energy transition in Europe, thanks to, among other reasons, their local sector coupling capabilities, enabled by a step by step digitalization. Tilia participated to the first collective European Digital Roadmap Report, exploring the value of digitalization for sector coupling, providing its views on how to involve the different stakeholders into an optimized multi-energy system, studying the various technical and non-technical barriers and how to build an action plan to leverage the untapped DHC potential. The results are summarized in the DHC+ report below.

DHC+ Technology Platform is the European hub for research & innovation in district heating and cooling, under the frame of EuroHeat & Power.

Abstract of the Study:
“Sector coupling benefits are pushing for a larger adoption of ICT technologies in DHC. This trend is pushing the demand for ICT solutions offering innovative system configurations and control strategies. Digital solutions will need to support operators in managing multi-level optimisation across heat, gas and electricity networks and enable business beyond the traditional borders of single – carrier networks, e.g. through the ability to sell or buy energy across multiple networks and open access to their customers to new entrants.”
