CUSTOMER OBJECTIVES
- To assess the conceptual feasibility of transferring the drinking water supply from surface water to groundwater
OUR SERVICES/PROJECT SCOPE
- Identification of potential groundwater sources
- Development of feasible scenarios including possible pipeline routes, waterworks, storage and pressure boosting sites
- Conduct a cost comparison of different scenarios according to LAWA principles (Germany’s national/state working group on water)
- Determine the evolution of production costs over a 20-year period
- Evaluate the identified scenarios based on economic, technical and environmental criteria
- Identify the best-fit solution & draw up a feasible implementation plan
RESULTS
- Detailed groundwater supply concept containing the following findings and information:
- transferring from surface to groundwater is possible
- portrayal of the main hydrogeological, technical and economic factors to be considered with regard to implementation
- pipeline construction is the greatest cost driver
- recommended course of action
SPECIFICS
- Implementation would lead to the customer having its own long-distance water supply (distance to groundwater source > 50 km)
